Occasionally, taking a break from routine is necessary and yet unplugging is easier said than done. Whether it be a pleasant or unpleasant routine, it often feels as though one has to be forced to take a break from things they’re used to doing. So how do I know when it’s time to unplug?
I know it’s time to unplug when a habit seems to be controlling me rather than the vice versa
Let me use social media as an example. Social media platforms are so good at profiling us that they’ll give s more and more of what we find musing at a given point in time. For exampl, if an algorithm guesses that you might be wanting to buy a car, advertisement, posts and view suggestions will related to cars will be pushed to your screen. You will spiral in to this rabbit hole and it will be a while before you can unplug from the feeds.
As you can imagine, unplugging at such a moment would be hard. It can distract you from completing an assignment, doing house chores, reading for exams, you name it. But once you realize that you need to unplug, you have to be deliberate about it and do it.
